Handmade His and Hers Wedding Rings

Most couples like to have matching wedding rings but what do you do if he likes yellow gold but she likes white? This was my problem when I went to see a Derbyshire couple recently. He had an old 18ct yellow gold ring that he wanted me to re melt into his wedding ring but she wanted platinum. By adding a narrow platinum inlayed band into his ring and using a small amount of the 18ct yellow gold left to add an identical band to the ring that I made for her, the problem of matching rings was solved. His and Hers Wedding rings that complement each other perfectly. Makeup Magic on Your Wedding Day

“It is no exaggeration – there is an almost magical transformation that all comes together on the morning of a wedding”, says Angie Warburton, freelance makeup artist based in Litton. “I love participating in the transformation of brides-to-be on their wedding morning. As an independent makeup artist, I choose to use all MAC makeup products because I’m so impressed at how they produce the best colour-true, long-lasting results. Every bride has a truly natural radiant beauty – all I do is bring it out to the full – blending and defining, sculpting and contouring, minimising and emphasising, producing a complete and polished look that is always much more than the sum of its parts. 2013 makeup trends keep the bold brows and lashes look. Perfectly measured and sculpted brows are essential to lift and frame the eyes – makeup somehow loses its power without them. If you’re not afraid of colour – bright, hot pinks are sizzling on eyes and lips this season. Pink looks great on most brides and, for a more subtle nod to the neons, there’s always sugar shades and soft pink glosses.” Time and time again, positive feedback reinforces that professionally applied makeup makes such a difference to the definition and finish in their photographs, not to mention the wow factor when your friends and family see you! Why spend a fortune on loads of expensive

Wedding Anniversary – Still Celebrating 50 years on!

Mr and Mrs Somers tied the knot with us in January 1963, 50 years later in 2013 they returned to the Lee Wood Hotel along with all their family and friends to celebrate their wedding anniversary and 50 golden years of marriage! Mr and Mrs Somers held their wedding reception at the Lee Wood Hotel in January 1963 with 82 of their nearest and dearest. 50 years later they returned, now with children and grandchildren, to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary. When talking about their wedding day Mrs Somers produced a photo frame in which contained the original receipt from their big day totalling a massive £151.33! She had also kept her negligee from the honeymoon which was proudly displayed with a sign stating “We didn’t think this would last the night, let alone 50 years!”. Photos were displayed around the room of their wedding and we spotted one on the stairs that we just had to try and recreate! Congratulations Mr and Mrs Somers and we hope to see you again for the big 60! Handmade Wedding Rings with a Sentimental Twist

Many brides are offered an old piece of jewellery which has a lot of family history and sentimentality. Often it is very worn or of a style that isn’t what she had in mind, after all your wedding rings are the one part of your Big Day that you will see every day for the rest of your life and you want it right. This need not be a problem. By carefully dismantling the old jewellery Ian Mortimore can re melt the gold or platinum to make a new and personally designed piece to fit with your engagement ring or the metal can be used as a detail or lining to you chosen design. Stones can also be reused if there condition allows. Handmade Wedding Rings Over the 30 years Ian Mortimore has been making jewellery, brides and grooms have re used sentimental jewellery for not only wedding rings but pendants, cufflinks and lucky charms for bracelets to be worn on the day. For more information on how this could work for you please call Ian on 01629 636826 or visit imjewellery.com

    Black and White Wedding Photography

One of the great advantages of the digital revolution is that whilst in the past it was necessary to use separate black and white film at the picture taking stage, it is now possible to produce wonderful black and white wedding photography prints even from colour originals. Unfortunately this has also seen a proliferation of poor technique whereby too many wedding photographers just desaturate their colour photographs and leave a disappointing muddy mess, made worse by just sending their prints though the normal colour print process. Most of the weddings that I photograph produce some images which really cry out for good black and white treatment for the album. Here I always spend quite a bit of time on each individual image, carefully adjusting various aspects of the image to give the most attractive results. I then carefully print them myself, not in the darkroom, but on a dedicated large format printer. Prints are then treated with a lacquer to give them a uniform finish, protecting them from moisture and ensuring that they are capable of outlasting even traditional prints. All this is time consuming, but I really think that the results are well worth the extra effort.
